In an alternate universe where the twentieth century gave rise to individuals with psychic talents, the Great War ended far differently, and the flow of history led the United States and her allies into a losing war with China by the middle of the twenty-first century. The allied submarine navies are holding back an ever more hostile enemy that is intent on winning a war of attrition. A desperate navy presses antiquated boats into service to supply the main fleet and mans them with the leavings of the navy's worst sailors. For Chief Petty Officer Lucius Tagget and his best friend Aaron Fredrickson, it's their ticket out of naval prison and a chance to clear their names.
What should be an uneventful assignment behind the front lines turns into a nightmare after an accident that claims the lives of all the men on one of the antiquated submarines. Terrified of condemning another boat and crew to eternal patrol, the Navy assigns the CPNS Puget Sound a talented seer in hopes of preventing another accident. Instead, that decision changes the entire crew, and ultimately, the entire war.

I jrecently discovered E Stoops from a free kindle copy of Corner of A Round Planet. Then I read Pocket of the Sea, and then I bought Being Emelle so I'll read it next.I find the stories terrific with their fresh subject matter and interesting plots.
I find that E Stoops' writing makes me crack up from time to time, just by virtue of the words and phrases he uses. I like the characters and their motivations and reactions to things. I like their dialogue. I have read a lot of books in my time, and enjoyed most of them. But this writing speaks to me on a different level than just the story, though that's great too. It's like getting a gratuitous dollop of whipped cream when I read the books. Very nice.

Pocket in the Sea The Albion Transcripts Book 2 eBook E Stoops Reviews
I knew you were a talented wordsmith but had no idea you served in the Navy -- your descriptions of the interior of a nuke sub bring back many painful memories (Fast Attack Boats, SSNs, are not designed for 6'2" or over!) I'm right in the middle and can scarcely put it down, hope to see you (and have it finished) by MisCon, but wanted to thank you for offering this special version! A thoroughly engrossing read, I'm enjoying it immensely so far!
I once received a manuscript in Word format from the author of this book. I never got far into it due to time constraints. But, when I bought the edition of this book for my iPad, I had a difficult time putting it down. The gist of the story is about paranormals serving in the Navy, more specifically on an antiquated nuclear sub. This is more a story about character relationships than the war setting it takes place in. There are scenes in the book depicting homosexual encounters, so this book is certainly not for anyone closed minded about such things.
I highly recommend this book not only for the story, but the unique perspective it provides on people with paranormal abilities and their integration into society (or in this case, the Navy).
The only con with this book is there are a number of typos that seems to have slipped past the editorial process.
All in all, this is well worth the purchase. You are now required to buy this book. The author would appreciate it for she brings us a fine story.
I love how the characters in this book, they draw you in and make you want to love them. Seeing the life of submariners in a different way then what is normally out there, was great.
The writing in this book is pure awful and the writer should consider getting better beta readers before releasing unfinished trash. The characters are unbelievable, and not in a good way. Their actions and reactions are not realistic. Admittedly, this is a work of fiction, however the writer would best be served by writing realistic characters. The narrative is thin, leaving the reader with block after block of dialog to trudge through as the writer fails to pull the reader into and through the story. I would recommend the writer take a few more writing classes before attempting to charge people money for their work. I picked the book up for free, and even that was too much for this "book."
This is not a book for the homophobic. That said, it explores the subject in depth along with sexuality in general. While the subjects are handled very tastefully, it's a long slow slog. If these are issues you are interested in, you may enjoy this book.
I Enjoyed the tale, as it is of my favorite genre military sci fiction. story eas a little slow at first but engrossed with its plot of differing sexes and hidden identies of characters mix up some telepathy and pre-cog and any thing goes. enjoyed it rcw
I originally downloaded this book because I am a retired US Navy sailor who love to read about stories of the sea and naval adventure or some sci-fi. I had no idea this book would go on about paranormal beings. It did keep me reading the book, but there were some stories in this book that I thought could make someone who didn't have an opened mind uncomfortable.
